About Eric Leonardos

Eric As Stylist

Eric has been working in the Beauty Industry for over 15 years. It is no surprise that one of Eric’s favorite childhood past times was brushing his Mother’s hair and playing with her cosmetics. He started his beauty career as Resident Makeup Artist and Brow expert at a High-end, Multi-cultural Boutique salon in Austin, TX.

Then he made his way to Los Angeles to pursue his dream doing hair and makeup with the high-profile, creative and noteworthy people of LA.  After freelancing for a couple years in Los Angeles, Eric missed working in the salon and decided to focus more on Hair Cutting, Color and the Art of Hairdressing.

Very quickly his career began to take off doing hair for several celebrities and noteworthy clients including Betsy Brandt, Mary Louise Parker, Greg Louganis, and Tracy Gold. As well as the covers of CVLUX, Modeliste and EMMY’s Magazine.  Eric believes that a continue focus on Education, Creativity and Artistry are essential to mastering the craft of Hairdressing.

Eric stays busy creatively by working New York Fashion Week, taking classes, learning new techniques, as well as doing hair for Red Carpets and Editorial Hair Styling. Eric’s favorite clients he says, “is the client right in front of me, they are the most important person in the room!”

Eric As Activist

After Publicly disclosing his HIV status on Logo TV's Finding Prince Charming, Eric found himself with a platform to raise awareness around key issues effecting the communities he is apart of. He only claims to be an expert about one thing "his own experience" but listens carefully to his peers and fellow members of his community who share their experience with him.

Eric has decided to make being an Advocate for People Living with HIV one of  his top priorities as well as raising awareness around many other noble causes. "We have come so far around the challenges facing PLWH but we have a long way to go.

Staying active and bringing awareness to STIGMA, easier access to TREATMENT & PREVENTION, continuing to EDUCATE about sexual health, and HEALTHCARE. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live a happy, healthy and full life.

19 years ago I came out to my parents and their reaction was exactly what I expected. If I did not deny who I was and live my life the way they thought I should I could not stay in their home. They told me it was my choice. So I moved out, I stayed with a gay couple in the neighborhood, then with the manager of a gay bar in Houston, TX. I was carried by my fellow LGBTQ friends and Chosen Family for years Vincent, Bianca, Brian, Al, Molly, Mellissa, Mark, Robert, Javier, Marcus, Todd, Allen, Heath and many others. I struggled for years trying to discover who I was, with no family connection, no direction and no “real life” skills. First, I am grateful I am alive! Looking back I consider it a miracle that I found my purpose, my calling and the direction I wanted to go. The two areas in my life that I experienced the most shame were around being Gay and HIV positive. Today these are the areas that I have experienced the most freedom from my life. The message I would give that 18 year old boy would be stay strong and you don’t have the luxury of shame. Shame steals your joy, happiness and destroys relationships. Your greatest work will be learning to love yourself and others. It will get better, your Parents and some of your family will come around just be true to yourself, your heart is your guide and you are perfect just the way you are.
